Primary Care Center Preparedness

This project disseminated effective tabletop and field exercise modules for hospitals and primary care centers in New York City and beyond for use in the development of plans for emergency preparedness. Regular review of tabletop and field exercises to assess and rehearse emergency response protocols is considered an essential element of preparedness.

Community Health Centers (CHCs) are an important front line of response in the event of an emergency, as they are often the first place many people seek health care. Given the important role that CHCs play as a community-based health portal throughout New York City, it is critical that these centers be prepared to respond to bioterrorism attacks and be integrated into the City’s emergency response system.
